Recovery and Cleaning of Acidic Rinsing Water

Q. We are a French manufacturer of intraocular lenses. We are looking for a solution for the recovery and/or purification of acidic rinsing water from Hydrofluoric-acid waste, in order to accomplish the reduction of wastewater disposal costs and the reduction of raw material consumption.

I know Electrodialysis or Diffusion Dialysis may be valuable for our application. Do you have other idea? Do you know any manufacturer of electodialyser interested by helping us?

The volume of waste water to treat is quite low: about 500 litre per month, but it has to be increased in the following years… The average concentration of F- ions in our waste water is 1g/L.

A. Is the HF rinse water contaminated with anything other than HF is the first question? Then, if yes, what is the other contamination and how much of it is there, other contaminates.
