Industrial Finishing Exposition
Gets Under Way
One-Third of Floor Space Sold in
1st Month
More
than one-third of the exhibit space at Chicagos INTERNATIONAL AMPHITHEATER
has been reserved by exhibitors participating in the 3rd Industrial Finishing
Exposition, sponsored by the American Electroplaters Society. The Exposition,
scheduled for June 16-20 1952, is expected to attract at least 20,000 purchasing
and production executives.
Clyde Kelly, Exposition and Convention
Chairman, has announced that hundreds of products and services in electroplating
and fifteen allied fields will be displayed at the Chicago Exposition. Initial
plans undertaken by the joint Committee indicate that the Trade Show will be
the largest in the history of the Society. The scope of the event has been enlarged
to cover the exhibition of abrasives, automotive plant transportation, basic
chemicals and metals, industrial tapes, material-handling equipment, polishing
and buffing equipment and supplies, testing instruments, and publications dealing
with metal finishing.
According to Mr. Kelly, every effort
is being made to offer exhibitors the greatest advantages in displaying their
products and services. In developing the floor plan for the Exposition, which
includes the Arena and the North Wing of the INTERNATIONAL AMPHITHEATER, the
Committee reserved approximately 50,000 square feet for broad aisle space. This
insures ample room for material and crowd movement and guarantees exhibitors
the opportunity to show their wares and to talk to buyers.
Exposition Headquarters. which is
located at 35 E. Wacker Drive, Chicago, Ill., announced recently that over one
hundred requests for booth space had been received prior to the distribution
of official layout brochures and space contracts.
The Exposition office also revealed
that a huge publicity program on behalf of the INDUSTRIAL FINISHING EXPOSITION
OF 1952 is now under way. The plans include the issuance of stories and articles
for trade publications and newspapers, radio and television interviews and announcements,
and promotional advertising tie-ins. All available media will be utilized to
attract the finest audience.
Careful screening of Exposition visitors
and registrants will be made for the protection of exhibitors and their personnel.
Constant emphasis will be placed on inviting only men and women from industry
who influence the buying habits and procedures of their respective companies.
As part of the promotional program
of the Exposition, 250,000 mailing stickers printed in three colors have been
produced and are being distributed to exhibitors and Secretaries of the forty-six
Branches of the American Electroplaters Society.
Hours for Exposition attendance have
also been announced. The schedule is as follows:

Tues., June 179 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Wed., June 1812 Noon to 10 P.M.

The Educational Sessions of the 39th
Annual Convention of the American Electroplaters Society will be conducted
at the famed STOCK YARD INN, adjacent to the INTERNATIONAL AMPHITHEATER. These
sessions are a vital portion of the Convention, which will otherwise be held
concurrently at Chicagos Conrad Hilton Hotel (formerly the Stevens). More
than two thousand Convention registrants are expected to attend the Educational
Sessions. Free bus service between the Hilton and the Amphitheater is being
provided for Convention registrants and exhibitors.
Facilities for free parking of 4,000
automobiles has also been arranged by the Exposition Committee. Parking space
is lighted and patrolled.
The A. E. S. Research Committee will
maintain an extensive exhibit at the Exposition. Harold J. Wiesner, Chairman
of the Committee in charge of the Research Exhibit, points out that the primary
purpose of the exhibit will be to acquaint large numbers of industrial representatives
with the accomplishments of the Society and with its research work.
Another educational exhibit already
past the planning stage will be that of the Chicago Electro-Platers Institute.
Methods of plating on various metal objects, as well as a display of metal finishes,
will be shown. The job-shop platers organization has announced that its display
will be unique and extremely mobile.
The following are but a few of the
products to be exhibited:
abrasive belts and abrasives, adhesives, air compressors, air heaters, anodes,
booth-cleaning compounds, booth coatings, buffing compounds, buffs, burnishing
barrels, conveyors, degreasers, dipping machines, electrical controls, enamels,
exhaust equipment, filters, generators, japans, laboratory equipment, lacquers,
masking tapes, material handling equipment, baking ovens, paints, plating chemicals
and cleaners, plating barrels, plating racks, plating machines and plating tanks.
Additional products include: polishing and buffing machines, polishing grain,
polishing wheels, radiant heating equipment, rectifiers, scales, safety equipment,
sand-blasting equipment, tank rheostats, temperature controls, temperature indicators,
testing and inspection equipment, protective clothing, varnishes, waxing equipment,
wire brushes, and wire wheels.
According to a statement issued by
the IFE Committee, exhibitors at this event will have an unequalled opportunity
to meet and talk to more customers and prospects during the four-day Exposition
than in five hundred days of personal calls made on an individual basis. It
is for this reason that the Exposition slogan takes on added meaning . . .
ITS CHICAGO FOR YOU IN 1952!
