Electroplating In The US

Q. I am a mechanical engineer. I am responsible from time to time for specifying plating. Is there some way I can find out if specific plating technologies (chrome plating, etc.) will be phased out because of environmental concerns?

A. At this point, no specific plating is being phased out in the U.S. I would encourage you to join the American Electroplaters & Surface Finishers society to keep up with what is happening in the metal finishing industry: www.aesf.org
